VLC crash while playing RTSP stream on internet

Postby puneet1624 » 28 Feb 2011 06:06

I am using VLC 1.1.5 to play a rtsp h.264 stream on internet/WAN. The stream is on a bit rate of around 300Kbps. The URL of the stream is : rtsp://<ip address>:<port no.>/h264

It starts palying the stream but after few seconds VLC hangs (or crash) and it make the computer also hangs. The operating system on the computer is Windows 7.

If we reduce the bit rate to 64 Kbps, the hang issue is reduced but there is no certanity. So with higher bit rate the probability of hang increases.

When same stream is played on LAN it works fine with no problem. the tested bit rate on the LAN is from 64 Kbps to 4 Mbps.
We tried using VLC 1.1.7 and same issues is there also
Please suggest any resolution for this.

show the logs (tools messages)

Maybe your internet connection can"t handle 300Kps streams...

Normally, VLC cannot hang the whole computer, and this usually points to a buggy device driver, if it really does hang the system.
