Choppy audio/video while transcoding

Postby Greendq » 31 Mar 2010 11:16

Hi!

I`m transcoding from a RTSP source (QVidium hardware encoder) to http (in flv format using x264 codec). rtsp caching is set to 5000, sout caching is set to 12 000 ( --rtp-caching=5000 --sout-mux-caching=12000). After a day or two, audio/video begin choppy and vlc show this:

Code: Select all

[0x15ed1f8] [Media: channel0] main mux warning: late buffer for mux input (5024) [0x15ed1f8] [Media: channel0] main mux warning: late buffer for mux input (36503) [0x15ed1f8] [Media: channel0] main mux warning: late buffer for mux input (11095) [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync [0x7f946c001d78] [Media: channel0] stream_out_transcode stream out debug: drift is too high, resetting master sync
Is there any possibility to get rid out of this?

I`m sure, CPU is capable to transcode video in x264 in realtime, so this is not the root of the problem :(

It seams that noone cares for things like these. :(
I've seen too many single post threads with no answers.

I would easily pay for VLC if it would work without errors.

Yes. The set of people who care about your "advanced" problem, know the answer and bother to read the forum might well be empty.

See, several developers would happily work on VLC stream to work without errors, if they had a decent software engineer permanent work contract.

But paying a few bucks on VLC won't get us very far in that respect :?

Sure. My point is, an engineer costs the order of 100,000€ yearly (including overhead). Not a price anyone would/could spend on VLC, except perhaps a large company.

So, what's the point in doing software that doesn't work?
Problem with audio desynchronisation started with version 1.1.0.
