VLC 1.1.7 and DVB-T

Postby manunc » 16 Feb 2011 14:14

Hello I am in a DOM-TOM where TNT is broadcasted since few months

frequency=634 MHz and BWD=8MHz, TNT HD in MPEG4

Unfrtunately I can not succeed to watch channel using VLC, it works using WinTV software.
I have a wall outlet I guess it is DVB-T (not DVB-C), I never heard about VB-C here so.

Messages output I have are : (if you notice something )

1) You're not telling us which way you are using for trying to play DVB-T. Command line ? GUI ? And which parameters you are using.

2) Your messages log is not complete, please post a full one.

3) Make sure the latest BDA drivers for your device are installed.

Thanks for your reply:

1) I used VLC under Windows 7 so I used GUI

2) In GUI in verbos=2 I have only this (new test), how to get more logs ?
I just have set: 634 000 KHz, choose DVB-T and choose 8MHz as the bandwidth.

3) Where can I see I have the latest BDA driver ? (what is BDA ?)
I have installed for my WinTV HVR 1200 the driver:
HVR-12×0-14×0-17×0-33×0-44x0_1_47_28239_WHQL

Thanks by advance for your help.

1) I used VLC under Windows 7 so I used GUI
Try this:
Media -> Open capture device then in the Capture Mode drop down list select DVB DirectShow
In the Device selection / DVB type section tick DVB-T
In the Options section set the Transponder/Multiplex frequency to 643000 and the Bandwidth to 8 MHz
Do NOT use the Advanced Options button except, maybe, to increase the caching value to 500 or 1000 for testing purposes
Then click on the Play button at the bottom.

Due to the shift you may also want to try frequencies around like 642666, 643166 and 643333.

If it still doesn't work then open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the above procedure again and then paste the full resulting log here.

Super !

I succeed to get one channel.

My frequency (in my country) is supposed to be 634 MHz, following your idea about pitch I try 634 166 KHz and I succeed to get one channel (there is 8 channel here).

Many thanks, the question is now how to get the others ones ?

Best regards
