Where does iTunes copy files too?

can someone tell me where iTunes copies the video file I am adding to my iPhone?

I know iTunes is coping the files on my computer somewhere, I would like to find these files so I do not have double copies, and same some HD space

The encrypted backup is stored at ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup. I doubt that you can extract your files though.
