Stuck on 1.1.4 ?

The announcements says 1.1.6 is available, but all I can get is 1.1.4 (1.1.4-1ubuntu1.3)

Ubuntu 10.10. I have a "universe" repository active.

You could compile the latest version yourself?

Or "At some own risk?!"... The risk being conflicts and breaking other packages etc.
Use a PPA.

We don't control what version Ubuntu ships. Normally, Ubuntu provides the latest VLC version at the time of freezing the Ubuntu release, not at the current time. So Ubuntu 10.10 has VLC from middle of 2010.
