Staircase effect on DVDs?

Postby Tequila-UK » 25 Jan 2011 16:55

I get this problem on my Mac when watching DVDs (interlaced ones only, I think - haven't had chance to check my DVDs which have progressive transfers). I get left with this nasty staircase effect. I've tried all the deinterlacing options (I use 'blend') and none of them are any help.

Screen capture:

Any help?

Thanks.

Any suggestions please? I've tried everything I can think of here (including reinstalling the OS) and playing around with the graphics and interlacing settings in VLC, so I can't think what the solution is.

It's most definitely worth noting that this does not occur on those DVDs with progressive, rather than interlaced, transfers. :)

Please, cut a short sample of this file, 20-30 MB will be enough, and upload it to some file sharing site like Rapidshare or Megaupload.

Use DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
