Auto close VLC after playback

Postby Rycon » 02 May 2008 21:17

I cant seem to find the option to auto close VLC after done playing something.

My reason is because I use a firefly remote to play files and once its done I want it to go away, so that I can pick the next without having to close it first.

Thank you for your help!

Kinda impossible due to the fact I use the remote to select the file.

Really consider this feature in future versions, seems like a standard feature to me.

Thanks guys.

You can use Intelliremote to program your SnapStream Firefly remote to control VLC completely. Any keyboard command or shortcut you want to execute from your remote is no problem. So if you wanted to close VLC by exiting it you could map a button on your SnapStream Remote to CTRL+X to close VLC from a remote button push.

Hello, Is it possible to have vlc:quit at the end All the time..

I have my VLC on One Instance and Enqueue items to playlist.

Now its simple enough, set double click .avi files to
"c:\....\vlc.exe" "%1",VLC:quit

but if I wanted to add multiple files I would have
File1
quit
File2
quit
File3
quit

Which of course.. is bad .. Any suggestions how to fix this?

This is for zuga - nice screen shot but what version of VLC has this screen? I downloaded the latest rev. and this screen is not there.
Thanx

Yes it is (in VLC 1.1.5). Notice the Show settings: All option.

For VLC_help -
thanx - I looked more closely and there it was! I did try to find this in the docs before posting but came up with nothing. Thanks again.

First, Let me say I realize this might be an old topic, but it came up while searching google for a way to close VLC after playback. Found it.

I used to use Media Player Classic (MPC) mostly, but has started crashing while playing some of my videos so I've switched to VLC. One thing I liked about MPC was that it had the option to close after playback in a handy menu. A simple right click to set the option even if you're in fullscreen viewing was a lot more convenient than having to fiddle in the options menu each time you want to activate or deactivate the option. I think the option through a right click menu or a button on the command bar would be quite useful.

MPC also had options to restart or shutdown the computer after playback, which also proved handy on more than one occasion. They'd be nice additions to VLC as well.

EDIT: I woke up this morning after having used the 'play and exit' option for the first time to find that VLC had played through the playlist, but was still very much open. What gives?
