Filenaming Schemes and Metadata

Postby navysealltblue » 28 Dec 2010 19:40

Are there ways of changing how VLC parses filenaming schemes and collects metadata? For instance, a file "Show -1x02 - Title" will not send any meta data to "Media Information" where as "Show - S01E02 - Title" will impart the "showName" as "Show - ", the seasonNumber and the episode number, but will not send the episode title. Is there a location where these standards are conveyed, and is there a place where one can specify naming standards to VLC for future use? When I play a file with the name scheme "Show - S01E02 - Title" it only shows "Show - S01E02" in the OSD when the file begins to play.

I am using VLC 1.1.5 on Win7 however I have experienced this on other versions in the past.

No, it only depends on the metadata inside the file.

Thanks for the quick response, j-b.
In this example, I took the same file and renamed it, to demonstrate what I am referring to.
