Playlists and artwork (VLC Remote)

Postby skippyfinger » 28 Dec 2010 02:38

Hello all,

I am new to VLC and so far loving it. However, I am not sure the best way to go about organizing my files. I have hundreds of movies on my hd that are categorized according to genre. Using the media library tab, I am able to copy the entire folder over thereby keeping the folder structure in tact. However, if I want to create play lists, I cannot keep my folder structure and end up with just a massive copulation of files. If I was just using this program on my computer it wouldn't be much of an issue, however my true reason for moving over to VLC is so I can use the VLC Remote app on my iphone to control my computers media. The media library tab doesn't show up on the iphone app, rather just the play lists tab. Any suggestions? When I look through all of the directories on the Remote App, it takes forever to navigate to where I want to be as all of my drives show up and all of my folders.

Also, is there a way to get the artwork for my movies?

Thank you for your help

Hi,

VLC Remote is one of my apps - I just use the (awesome) http interface to VLC.
You can get links to forums, chat, at http://hobbyistsoftware.com

re artwork; That's something I'd like to get working, but iirc, it doesn't work properly with the current standard http interface. It should be better in the new lua interface which VLC is moving towards.

Re browsing - I have some updates on that too - but you'll still be limited to folder-style browsing.
