95% CPU usage

Postby Slapo » 14 May 2005 21:29

Hallo,

doesn't seem quite ready for h.264 - 95% CPU usage when trying to play the hi-res batman trailer from apple.com with one still image and working (?) audio in the background. The new options look nice, though.

the problem hadn`t been resolved! vlc media player dosn`t know to get the subtitle himself you must go to the prerences and set the subtitle.

hmm, the serenitytrailer is playing fine with the elecard moonlight player 3.0.1 on a p4 3ghz.

with vlc i have the same problem - sound is there, picture stands still 49% CPU usage. deactivating subtitles worked for one frame which showed up - then it stood still again.

Mac OS X version repeatedly crashes when playing AVI file

Postby Guest » 15 May 2005 09:25

I tried the Mac OS X version of 0.8.2 test 1, and it repeatedly crashed after playing back about two minutes of an AVI file. I reset my preferences as recommended by the Read Me file, but the problem still occurred.

Here's the start of the crash log for the most recent crash:

a win64 version for 0.8.2 seems unlikely. I'd say 0.8.3 sounds more realistic (there still exists no crosscompile too to compile win64 on linux ...)

you can change the subtitle colors in the preferences :
Video
Subtitles OSD
Text renderer

you'll need to click on "Advanced options" and you'll be able to set the subtitles' color

VLC wide screen movie

Postby jayde » 15 May 2005 19:15

Hi
Thanks for giving us this opportunity to use your wonderful creation VLC player for Apple Mac users. This is amazingly easy to use app! and free...

A growing number of wide screen displays, which I have Apple Mac 23" Display, VideoLan should consider thinking making something like Widescreen movie player or give an option of widescreen. display.

I use alphaomega software widescreen movie player but don’t give much options as VideoLan Has …

http://alphaomega.software.free.fr/wide ... layer.html

I will not hesitate paying if videoLan create a wide screen movie Player for the Mac users.

I'm sure some one must have thought about it “wide screen player from VideoLan”.

Thanking you all
Jayde

Tried out the MacOSX port.
No more error messages when switching on deinterlacing.
I like the additional options in the Preferences

But the changes to the playlist are painful for me:
I cant watch TV anymore by just clicking in the Web interface of my dreambox / dbox running enigma.
See also:
viewtopic.php?t=8048&highlight=

Even trying to open the .pls file fails. I have to open the .pls file in an editor, then must copy the url inside and past that in the open file dialog in vlc.

I hope very much, that this functionality is brought back.
