Subtitle zise problem

Postby omerlugassi » 30 Aug 2010 02:49

Hello, I've just updated for version 1.1.3. For Intel 64 bit (after I had 1.0.5.)
My computer is Mac Pro Quad 2.8 GHZ (OSX 10.6.4)
In the previous version (1.0.5.) I didn't have this problem: I chose 'large' at the font size in the subtitle/osd configuration,
and the font size was just fine (even though not so much adjustable)
Now, in the new version, I can't change the subtitle size at all! It stays very small and doesn't fit for watching from distance.
I've searched a lot everywhere and didn't find any instructions how to change the subtitles,
It seems that VLC for OSX has less options for subtitles... :
How can I change the size of the subtitles?
Am I missing something?
thanks

Could you try deleting the VLC preferences and see if that changes anything?
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.

by deleting, do you mean 'reset all'?
I've tried it... it gives back the original font (ariel black) but still doesn't let me change the size of the subtitles
b.t.w the main subtitle language I use is Hebrew, and sometimes English.

I mean deleting the VLC preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/

Okay, I've just tried that, and it responses very weird... (and keeps the font small)
It seems like VLC doesn't count any of my choises at the subtitle menu,
The font size remains the same (and the fonts look pixelized).
I've tried 'Ariel', 'Ariel Black' and 'Ariel Hebrew', all of them act the same... doesn't respont to the font size I choose, inside or outside the fonts menu.
Off course that I always re-open the video or VLC itself (I really try everything in order to make it work)
What else can it be?

Hello same problem here, when I try to change the font size of the subtitle it is not working at all... I'm able to change the tipe of font but no the size... I tried to erase preference, reset, and reinstall and nothing appear to work, I did reinstall a older version and work ok.

I have the same problem. I can change Font Type, but I cant change Font Size. Please add possibility to change subtitle font size while playing a movie with a shortcut. The fact that I have to quit and relaunch VLC to see if the size change is okay is quite annoying. Thanks.

Same thing here. I deleted the prefs, but I can not change the size of neither the screen text not the subtitle. Changing font works, but not size (which is huge).

I have this problem as well with 1.1.5 on OS X 10.6.5. Had it with version 1.1.3 too.
Still sticking to 1.0.3 which works fine.

Very annoying bug, especially since the default subtitle size is kinda big.
