Vlc and Apple Remote

Postby enzo74 » 25 Nov 2010 15:47

Hello.

I'am using Vlc on my macbook with Apple Remote.

When watching the film, when single-clicking vlc skip to next film in playlist. I think that this contradicts the typical behavior of the Apple remote. With a single click should skip for a few minutes in that film.
And when you double-click forward or backward vlc should skip to next film in playlist. How it works in itunes.

You agree with me?

I absolutely agree to this "Apple User Interface Guidelines" on Apple hardware.
I recall the beginning of VCRs in public households, when every vendor made his own buttons, names, function on every model different. Sony finally set with the walkman the standard to those triangels, square and circle we all are using nowadays.
It´s now time to find new standards to our future use of discreed media, one step beyond buttons. I just make sense to come to a continuing clever way of navigation in media. One clever way to create "common" interfacing. Something working with buttons, menus, shortcuts, remote controls and gestures as well as with "balancing devices" (Wii, mobiles like android or iPhone ...) A preset of useable navigation settings might be an interim solution. Eventually an area of editable custom settings. Maybe a contest will bring new ideas ... vlc has defineately the potencial to be the trendsetter, vlc could set another milestone as it has done it before ...

Good idea! It would make the Apple Remote much better in controlling VLC
