vlc splashes and crashes

Hi,

I have a problem with starting vlc after upgrade from Mint 9 to Mint 10.
I did upgrade through apt-get dist-upgrade. In mint 9 I have had no problems with vlc. Now in Mint 10 if I want to start vlc from "start menu" or by clicking on "quick launch" vlc button the vlc splashes for second and afterthat gone. The same if I want start a video file in a file browser. The only possible option to start vlc is to type vlc in terminal.
I am using gnome and version of vlc is 1.1.5.
