Skip broken files

Is it possible to preview a file in a way that VLC skips automatically to the bits that have any information?

doesn't VLC already do this? If not then I'm not sure how it is supposed to be able to know how to skip forward...

I don't know.

I was looking for an option. I thought there was an option to maybe turn it off and mine is. I don't know why it would be turned off.
The title should read: Play broken files

What I mean is: does VLC play a broken file by going automatically to the parts that are available?
