VLC 1.1.4: How to start a network stream?

Postby anger » 13 Nov 2010 13:36

For me it's very annoying that the process of starting a network stream has changed. So far, it was easily possible to select the protocol and port. This is not now. Why the change? Because of this unnecessary change, it was not possible for me to record an important radio broadcast. How do I start de stream now?

Contrary to you, most users found the old dialog more confusing than the simpler new one. There was no logic behind it. Besides, it did not support half of the VLC protocols.

I can't understand the confusion. But no matter. How do I open a network stream, that requires the protocol udp and the port 1234? The address udp://233.51.128.228:1234 doesn't work (anymore).

If that does not work, it's probably not a VLC problem.

I have the solution for the problem: The new dialog requires the @ within the address. the correct form for the example is: udp://@233.51.128.228:1234
