VLC fails to start remotely through SSH

Hello,

I have VLC running well on an Ubuntu 10.04. Now that it works ok, I try to run it from a remote Debian Squeeze computer with the following command :

What can be the problem and is it possible to solve it ?

Updating to VLC 1.1.x should fix this. However you should note that viewing video through SSH requires extremely high bandwidth (raw video) and CPU power (encryption/decryption).

Ok. Never thought about bandwidth consumption but the idea is to start cvlc without duplicate output to display, thus displaying the transcoded video locally.
