Audio/video from firewire when streaming

Hi.

We want to stream high quality mpeg4 for use in live-from-field operations in professional tv news broadcast. Our in-field laptop is equipped with XP and VLC. The DV-camera is Directx compliant.

I have read that there have been issues about firewire use with VLC.

With 0.8.1 I get colored interference when using mpeg4 at about 1-2Mbit and it locks up, with 0.8.0 it works, but no sound.

Anyone knows of a way to make it work with both audio/video from DV camera via firewire?
