Mpeg video file problem

hi,
.mpg files gets stuck at start, for 2 to 3 seconds after that it runs fine .
other formats are working fine.
please help.....

what is the Idle configuration for VLC palyer to play all kinds of files. intel atom processor based motherboard with 2 GB ram Avi and MPg files get stucked . Swap increase can solve this problem ? Please help ............................
