DVD Menu Languages problem

For some time now I have certain dvd that plays with different language menu's. When I open them on my dvd they were automatically in English, on the blueray that can play dvd they are in french...and now they are French aswell when using VLC player (i seem to remember them seeing in English there before).

How can I change them to show me the English menu's? The option 'Menulanguage' in Preferences doesnt seem to work whether I put it on 'auto', 'britiish english' or 'american english'.

In the Preferences, set the Prefered Subtitles Language option to whatever language you want to use (e.g. EN or FR) and the DVD menu will match if the selected language is available.

That doesnt work, whether I type EN, en, En, English, English hard of hearing or such. Still my menu of Stagrgate (season 4) is in French, while I know that English menu's are possible to see.
