Watching online avi (streaming)

Postby araganaus » 21 Sep 2010 10:30

Hello everybody!
Just a simple question: I have an .avi file stored on my servers, ok? Now, since it is a very long and big file, and since I want my users to watch it without having to wait for it to be downloaded, I'd like to use VLC to just stream it. Let's say its URL is http://www.mysite.com/video.avi, ok? How can I make VLC just stream it? I tried to use the Open -> Network feature, and in "Insert network URL" i write "http://www.mysite.com/video.avi" but it doesn't work! It just gets stuck and I have to kill the process... tried reinstalling VLC many times but it keeps not working! Any help??
Thank you!!
Matteo

If it's such a big file, are you sure their connection is fast enough to stream it?
