thx for that, however this doesn't solve the issue. It only gives me the hotkeys from my previous installation and leaves me unable to change them without having to switch to a previous version of vlc.$ cp ~/Library/Preferences/VLC/vlcrc ~/Library/Preferences/org.videolan.vlc/vlcrc
Huge thanks - that's worked for me.if you go to ~\Library\Preferences\org.videolan.vlc\vlcrc and use TextEdit to edit the vlcrc file, you can change the hotkeys. I would recommend using cmd+F to search for "Long" and it will take you to long jump forward. The thing to note is that long jump forward (key-jump+long) and long jump backward (key-jump-long) have a # symbol next to them. This means that they are being interpreted as comments, not as code. If you delete the # symbol, you should be good to go...It's a workaround, not a fix.
