file format icons

all the video format has the same icon, I think if is possible to show the extension name in icon, or differente colors of the road traffic cone with the file format like (mkv, avi, wmv, flv)... so this is all...

I think that I could whip up a collection of icons quickly, I would just need approval from one of the Devs to have them included

Yea it's going to need many icons, but I think people might are over thinking it. Making unique icons, with different styles and colours would be a nightmare to maintain.

But that would be making it more difficult than it has to be, all that is needed is a decent "VLC document" template, with some empty space for a label. Then agree on the labels font, size and color. And then anyone who has typing skills and has the document template icon, can make new file type icons just by typing in new text.

I threw this together just to show what I mean, like this:
