I just downloaded a new updated version of VLC. When I want to install it I am asked to enter my administrator login. I have never before had this problems.
Why is that?

VLC installer needs admin rights on Windows 7 and on Windows Vista. If you use .zip or .7z package you don't need installer (so you can "install" and use VLC without admin rights).
