Does VLC work under XP with Nova-T PCI (90002)

Does VLC work under XP with Nova-T PCI (90002)

Postby polyphemus » 26 Apr 2005 11:47

I have been using VLC successfully with a Hauppauge PVR250, under XP.
Now got a Nova-T PCI (DVB-T 90002), and trying to get Freeview with it - with no success to date.

Am using the latest nightly builds.

Has anyone else got this combination working?
- currently feels like beating my head against a wall, and I'd like the pain to stop!
Cheers

Consider:
1. The UserGuide says "For this, you can use the SVN version of VLC and compile it with ./configure --enable-dvb This feature should still be considered as experimental. You can find it in the official release since the version 0.7.2". - Is this comment out of date, or still current?

As a fullypaid member of the Windoze community, compiling is beyond me ;-(, so I am using the nightly builds as they come....

2. The Nova-T card supports DirectShow (and it appears as "Hauppauge WinTV 88x Video Capture" in VLC).

So, what is the score?

what happens when you try it? do you get damaged video or do you not get anything at all. There is a bug when reading compressed content from directshow devices in 0.8.1, you're probably stumbeling into that. Try a recent snapshot from http://www.videolan.org/~videolan

From the debug, it looks the directshow plugin is working correctly except for the fact that it cannot configure any channel for viewing, which would explain why you are not seeing anything.

DVB-T uses a different configuration mechanism than with ordinary analog television.

When you turn on the property pages, do you see any pages relating to configuring video frequency, symbol rate, modulation ?

No - nothing like that. I get things like:
- on the Video Decoder tab:
- Video Standard
- Signal Detected
- Lines Detected
- on the Video Proc Amp tab:
- Brightness
- Contrast
- etc
In fact, I think it looks unchanged from when I had the analogue TV card.....
Thoughts?

DVB-T under Windows

Postby polyphemus » 10 Jun 2005 00:34

Thanks - sorry - not quite sure what you mean:
(a) you had this problem in the past, but it is now giving you a different (ie DVB-T parameters) screen, or
(b) are you still having the problems I described above?

Same problem...

Postby Guest2 » 14 Jun 2005 11:52

I have the same problem with the Windows drivers for NOVA-T. The VLC recognise the card and the driver but you are not able to make any channel adjustment. I have tried the 0.8.2-test2 beta and it have som more controls but still no luck.

Anyone got i working ?

Please let us know.
