[SOLVED!] Slowing down audio playback w/o affecting pitch

Postby Chad » 20 Aug 2010 22:29

Hi,

I downloaded VLC yesterday after a friend suggested it. I am very excited about the possibilities as I am a guitar instructor by trade. I have been using the clunky Windows Media Player (XP) for my work, mostly because it has an enhancement which allows me to slow down playback of selected tracks without affecting the pitch of the song. I notice that VLC allows you to slow down audio tracks, but that the pitch changes correspondingly, as well. Unfortunately, that's a real deal breaker for me with this software. Such a shame too, as the looping function is incredibly useful and the sound quality of this player is absolutely superb, leaving almost no footprint on my system when compared to WMP. I'm hoping that there is a way for me to slow down songs without affecting the pitch. If not, you can be sure I will suggest this as a features request. Additionally, I'll be sure to blog about it on my website guitartherapy.com. Thanks so much in advance. Looking forward to subsequent releases.

Tools -> Preferences and open Audio section and then tick Enable Time-Stretching audio. Press Save and restart VLC.

Thanks so much. That worked like a charm.
