1.1.3 not installing properly on W7 32 bit

Postby hardynicks » 18 Aug 2010 19:42

When I tried to install the latest version, it throws up the cmd window (something to do with cache?) then Windows says the process has crashed, check online for solution & close or just close, so I close, the installation seems to complete, but when trying to start vlc it just crashes again- any ideas?

I can confirm this under Vista x64 SP2.

During the installation, vlc-cache-gen.exe crashes:

Image

problem signatur (german):

Code: Select all

Problemsignatur: Problemereignisname: APPCRASH Anwendungsname: vlc-cache-gen.exe Anwendungsversion: 0.0.0.0 Anwendungszeitstempel: 4c6bebb0 Fehlermodulname: ntdll.dll Fehlermodulversion: 6.0.6002.18005 Fehlermodulzeitstempel: 49e03824 Ausnahmecode: c0000005 Ausnahmeoffset: 00038e7c Betriebsystemversion: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1 Gebietsschema-ID: 1031 Zusatzinformation 1: e51a Zusatzinformation 2: 4c0d4d78887f76d971d5d00f1f20a433 Zusatzinformation 3: e51a Zusatzinformation 4: 4c0d4d78887f76d971d5d00f1f20a433

Installations finishes, but vlc.exe crashes:

Code: Select all

Problemsignatur: Problemereignisname: APPCRASH Anwendungsname: vlc.exe Anwendungsversion: 1.1.2.0 Anwendungszeitstempel: 4c6bebb0 Fehlermodulname: ntdll.dll Fehlermodulversion: 6.0.6002.18005 Fehlermodulzeitstempel: 49e03824 Ausnahmecode: c0000005 Ausnahmeoffset: 00038e7c Betriebsystemversion: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1 Gebietsschema-ID: 1031 Zusatzinformation 1: e51a Zusatzinformation 2: 4c0d4d78887f76d971d5d00f1f20a433 Zusatzinformation 3: e51a Zusatzinformation 4: 4c0d4d78887f76d971d5d00f1f20a433

Also, vlc.exe version info hasn't been updated:

I downloaded the 1.1.3 file again but it is exactly the same size, will it be a new version number?

I can confirm that 1.1.3 isn't installing properly on Windows XP either. It fails to write the files every time I try to install it.

I can confirm this is still an issue when using the auto-updater in 1.1.2 (W7 64bit), but once I uninstalled and downloaded from the website, then it worked fine.

Some mirrors must still have the old version, I just downloaded it and got the error.

i had the same issue make sure after you uninstall go back to manually delete all vlc files, easy way to do this in win7 is to do a search in your C drive for vlc , once thats done you should be good to go.
C:\Program File (x86), C:\Users\aL\AppData\Roaming possibly other places
i run win7 64bit ult
