VLC DVD Subtitles look awful -> .srt subs beautiful

Postby Thom- » 16 Aug 2010 20:44

Hello guys,

I opened a DVD via the Open->Media Menu. I activated the subtitle via the VLC subtitle menu and it got displayed. But the subtitles look very ugly.
When I open a normal xvid file with a .srt file (same name) I get the beautiful normal subtitles I am used to. The look of those subtitles I can change via the options menu, but not that of the dvd. It doesn't matter what I select, the subs look always the same.

Is there an hidden option where I could say "render the dvd subs like normal subs"?

Greetings
-Thomas

DVD subtitles are essentially semi-transparent pictures. To the contrary, SRT subtitles are just text, and are rasterized by the player.

There is no way to re-rasterize the DVD subtitles. In theory, this would require an OCR.
