No Picture in VLC 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 on nVidia cards

Postby wijadija » 18 Jul 2010 18:34

I had no issues with my previous version of VLC on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I upgraded to VLC 1.10 and now I audio but NO PICTURE! I have tried everything to see if I can get a picture to no avail. I have updated Direct X and all my drivers are up to date. Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know the solution to this problem? Please HELP! :!:  :?:

Nevermind...got it working....just uncheck 'use hardware YUV->RGB conversions' under the 'preferences' -> 'video' tab, then save and restart VLC.

Yes. That was the answer. I unchecked the ( use hardware YUV- RGB conversions under preferences video tab and then restart VLC.
So Thanks a lot my dear.

It is just that I don't know why the surface pixel format would change between versions if you watch same video.
direct3d debug: selected surface pixel format is YV12
and
direct3d debug: selected surface pixel format is YUY2
Anyway, if the problem is surface pixel format related, playing something like RGB AVI files should work.

And They Say....

Postby vel_tins » 31 Dec 2010 03:47

Now that you mention it, other user(no more feedback) with similar problem has Intel® integrated graphics...
i think it was me
After i found this thread, I tried 1.1.5 again with disabled secondary monitor
And bingo, direct3d works...

Code: Select all

direct3d debug: created video sub-window direct3d debug: Vout EventThread running direct3d debug: disabling screen saver main debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'resize' 592x357 window direct3d warning: trying surface pixel format: YV12 direct3d debug: selected surface pixel format is YV12 direct3d debug: Direct3D scene created successfully direct3d debug: Direct3D device adapter successfully initialized
But if I enable the secondary monitor, I get the following error:

Code: Select all

direct3d debug: created video sub-window direct3d debug: Vout EventThread running direct3d debug: disabling screen saver direct3d error: Could not create the D3D device! (hr=0x8876017C) direct3d error: Direct3D could not be opened direct3d debug: Direct3D scene released successfully direct3d debug: DirectXEventThread terminating direct3d debug: DirectXCloseWindow direct3d debug: WinProc WM_DESTROY
So same same here, with both monitors enabled:

Code: Select all

Direct3D 1.0.5 OK 1.1.x and 1.2.0 Failing

1.2.0 is finishing the vout rework started after 1.0.5, which might explain the issues...
