VLC 1.1.0 menus and buttons not or seldomly working

Postby kingotto15 » 01 Jul 2010 16:49

Hi everybody,

Just installed VLC 1.1.0 (Windows 7 Ultimate 32bits)

I can play video (double-click in Windows Explorer), can use the Shortcut keys, but the menus do not work (or just occasionaly).
Then, the rare moment that I am able to get into the Preferences Panel, I can't select anything and the buttons also are simply not working.

i noticed rather similar behaviour in 1.0.5, so I was happy to try the all new version.

Anyone any idea how to solve this issue? It is rather frustrating, since I do certainly see other improvements alreay, so want this version to work the way it should be.

Any help will off cource be very much appreciated,

Cheers

You use some custom Windows GUI engine?

I've been having the same issue. I have to run the program only using the context menus. I cannot access any of the menus at the top, click the playback buttons (or volume) nor click on anything in the preferences.

Running Windows 7 64-bit with VLC 1.1.0

Any help or advice would be great - can't find anything else on the web re: this issue.

Removal of %appdata%\vlc folder helps?

Just noticed something interesting with this problem. I use a Wacom pen tablet on my machine. If I use the mouse that came with the tablet, I have the problem - if I use the pen, I do not have the problem. Will see if I can recreate this after a reboot..

I also have this same problem and it's been bugging me for quite a while. I too use a wacom tablet, and strangely the problem goes away when I use my tablet pen! Thanks for the tip, sivarts. I'm fine with using my tablet pen whenever i want to run vlc, but hopefully a fix can be found for people who don't own tablets.

I've been having the same issue for the last few point releases. Problem first occurred in 1.0.2, IIRC.

Clicks don't register the majority of the time with the Wacom tablet's mouse, but works fine with the pen.

Did someone mix up and reverse something related to Wacom tablets?

QT4 issue. And QT4 devs are aware of this.
