Sound distortion- playing the soundtrack twice

Sound distortion- playing the soundtrack twice

Postby lynnechapman » 23 Jun 2010 08:35

Hi. I've been usuing VideoLan for ages with no problems. A couple of weeks ago I put it on to play an avi file as usual and the sound was distorted. I realised that it was actually playing the soundtrack twice with a slight time lapse (like audio ghosting!). I uninstalled and reinstalled a slightly newer version (1.05) and that didn't work. Today I uninstalled that and installed v1.10, still the same. Please can anyone help.
I use Windows XP; don't know if you need any other information.
Thanks
Lynne

I have the same problem.

Suddenly started when playing a DVD and is now the same for audio files as well.

Could this be a conflict with another audio program? I recently installed the latest version of Total Recorder but there was no issue with VLC in the first few days after that was installed.

It basically sounds as described above, like two audio files playing at the same time but out of sync and creates an echo effect.

I also use Windows XP and tried a reinstall of the latest VLC version - same problem.

Note - all files and discs play fine in other media players.

I encounter a similar issue with VLC 1.1.0.
I tried playing downloaded .flv videos, but soundtrack plays twice like an echo, although video is OK.
The same files plays OK on GOM Player 2.1.26.
Is that a settings issue ?

The issue is fixed by VLC 1.1.2.
Great.
Thank you.

Hem, sorry, I posted previous reply a bit too hastily,
The issue is fixed when I use VLC 1.1.2 as "admin", but not as normal user. The settings are the default one in both cases.
