Wich vlc version to stream in Fedora Core

Postby mcsniper95 » 28 Jul 2010 12:43

Good morning,

I have to do a streaming server using vlc.
I have Fedora Core 12, so I have install vlc with this comand "yum install vlc", ok no problem It installs the latest version (vlc 1.0.6).
The problem is that I can´t do nothing with this version of vlc : I can´t open a file, the menu...

Is there a problem with this version?

I tryed to install an older version and there allways small bugs, when I try to install libraries in the folder "extras".
I don´t understand I follow exactly the instructions.

I only want to do streaming via rtp, rtsp, and maybe sap , which is the better version of vlc ?
How can I install this version?

Could anyone help me, please
best regards
Mickael

I would say the latest (1.1)
But your GUI problem with 1.0.6 is not normal...

I tryed to uninstall and install many times and nothing...

Can I install vlc 1.1 with yum command, because I can´t install from the source code it allways give me errors in the
extras folders part.
Is this version, vlc 1.1 good to do streaming with rtp, rtsp unicast and multicast?
