Picture Stop When Using Subtitles (*.SRT) 1.1.1

Postby torrento » 28 Jul 2010 07:42

Good Night,

I'm new to vlc, downloaded the software one week ago and performed the update two days ago. I've been unable to show a picture with its subtitle file. I'm able to open the movie (mpg) but everytime the subtitles are manually opened (Video>>Subtitle Track>>Open) or I put a subtitle file with the same name as the movie in the same folder the picture is not displayed. I also noticed that when the movie is opened and I manually open the subtitle file (Video>>Subtitles Track>> Open>>) the picture stops showing and the cursor moves real fast up to the end of the movie. Im using Windows Vista just in case somebody want to know the OS.

I've read the wiki, threads related to subtitles and made some search on yahoo and google (been with this about 4 hours) and still cannot manage to play the movie with subtitles.

The subtitle file is ok (commas used not dots), tried several channels for audio (-1 to 3), unchecked the "Use Hardware YUB -> RGB conversions", checked the iso format (language is english so there should be no issue), tried to manually specify the subtitle language (Used "Engligh, any" in the Tools>>Preferences>>Subtitles&OSD), Opened the movie by directly clicking on it and manually with a specific subtitle file (Media>>Advanced Open File).

I'm not guru on this but I think I have tried all the basics recommended in the wiki and still no results.

Any recommendations???

Thanks in Advance

Could you share use the subtitle file? And is your mpg file properly indexed one?
