Monitoring multiple streams

Postby jamesl71 » 16 Nov 2009 10:01

Hi all,
Not sure which forum this needs to go in, so posted in here. If wrong could the mods move it to the correct forum? thx

I am using VLC to monitor 20 streams from my small DVB-S headend. What I am currently doing is manually opening the stream, resizing the window and positioning the window so I can see 20 VLC windows on my desktop.

Is there a script or an application that I can use to quickly set this up? As you can imagine it is quite a pain to keep setting this up when the PC crashes etc...

It would be Ideal if there was an application that would give me a grid of 5X4 and I could then stick the multicast IP in each window to start the streams. Sound is not an issue, just intrested in monitoring the video.

Even if someone could tell me to script opening the streams and then I manaually move the windows that would be great.

TIA

James

I'm very interested on this too. Have you found a solution yet?

why not run vlc in mosiac mode..

Instead of having 20 instances of VLC, just have 1 do all the work for you.

I can post an example that should work for you, but I need to know what kind of stream the incoming stream is.
