1.1.0: Firefly remote and keyboard problems

Postby parisology » 17 Jul 2010 21:41

vlc 1.1.0, win7-64 ultimate

My Firefly remote doesn't work with vlc 1.1.0. It worked ok with the previous version. All I use it for is pause/play. I can't find a way to make it work with 1.1.0. It would be nice if I could get all the main control buttons to work.

Also, I am unable to stop vlc from capturing the space key. If vlc 1.1.0 is open and playing, typing a space in another window will pause/stop the video in vlc. This shouldn't happen and makes it impossible to edit a document. Perhaps I did something to the hotkey settings while trying to get Firefly remote to work, but I reset the preferences and this didn't fix it.

Remove %appdata%\vlc folder. That removes VLC settings.

Thank you. This fixes the editing in another window problem.

The following is a breaking change. Is there a breaking change list?

To fix the Firefly remote problem I changed the Class Name in the Firefly settings file for VLC to ClassName="QWidget" since the name changed in 1.1.0 evidently. I used the program Spy++ to get the window class name. (The xml angle brackets probably won't show up below.)

VLCMediaPlayer-VideoLAN-1.1.0.xml

<Profile Type="SnapStream.Firefly.Core.Profile" Name="VLC Media Player" ShowOSD="True">
<Identifier ClassName="VLC DirectX" WindowText="VLC" FileName="" />
<Identifier ClassName="SkinWindow" WindowText="Window" FileName="" />
<Identifier ClassName="QWidget" WindowText="VLC media player" FileName="" />
<Actions Button="Maximize" Description="Full Screen">

There is changelog, but it doesn't list that.
