no video, only audio when playing AVI files

I have recently downloaded VLC 1.1.0 It looks good except for the road cone when you open a file.
My problem is If I try to open a avi file or and flv file I get the Cone then black screen with audio. It still plays OK just no picture.

This doesnt happen all the time but when it does I can either use win media player or do some other things and come back later and it will work again.

I never had this problem until I upgarded to V1.1.0 Has any one else had simular problems?

i too have this problem. I just installed 1.1 and now video doesn't show. only the audio. how can I fix this?

i'm having the same problem. Just installed the update and now when i go to play an avi, i have the audio but no video. I know it's not the avi file itself because it played before i installed the update and it still plays with Windows Media Player. Anyone having any luck getting to the bottom of this?

i have the same problem too go to play an avi file and the screen is black but the audio plays fine.

OK heres the log and the avi file works perfectly fine with windows media player so i know its not corrupted or anything.

It's not an AVI but an MPEG and the fact it's playing in WMP doesn't prove at all that the file has no problems.

Anyway, as requested, share a SHORT sample (30 MB max) of a problematic file.

Thanks for your time so far.

I haven't had the no video problem for a few days now, the only problem I am having is that VLC shuts down when you move the slider forward when play speed is faster that 1.5x and it drops out / closes down then the next time you open VLC it it sends an error report.

I am going to go back to an earlier version to overcome all the bugs, then when the new version comes out I will download that one, and hopefully it will be more stable.

I will still watch this thread and if I have the video problem again I will repost here.
