I have been using VLC for some time to stream MPEG2 from one PC to another - but have previously been controlling the streaming by using a remote desktop viewer (VNC - http://www.realvnc.com) to interact with the VLC GUI on the server.
This is, of course, slow and cumbersome. Further examination of the VLC documentation has started me looking at the HTTP server functionality in VLC.
This works great - allowing remote control of playlists, start, stop etc.
However - I do not understand how to use the HTTP interface to request a file to be streamed to my local machine. I guess it's the "Stream Output" text item - but I would appreciate some advice what to enter in this field.
I am using VLC version 0.7.0 under Windows XP on both machines.
Thanks
