vlc not working

Postby provenance » 23 Jun 2010 13:31

I recently changed the region code on my MacBook five times, not being aware of the limitations, and am now trying not look for options for a new dvd player. I downloaded VLC after lots of recommendations. I have installed it, but am having trouble with it reading any dvds. As the dvd player is now locked in region one ( I am in region 4) will this stop VLC working properly. Thanks.

First thing to try: try simply trying to play the DVD using the VIDEO_TS option - let me know if that works.

The second option is to look at changing the firmware in your DVD player to RPC1 - note this has risks and WILL invalidate your guarantee. This is not for the faint hearted.
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.

I'm having the same problem .. I get the little triangle with the exclamation mark when I try opening using DVD or Video ... have you been able to fix your issue?
