T vs CC subtitles

Postby dca » 18 Jun 2010 16:37

In VLC 1.0.5 and 1.1.0RC.
I have a DVD with subtitles in the "T1" channel. I can play this on an ordinary home DVD player, and get my TV to display the subtitle. I can also extract it using a EG&G DE241DR subtitle decoder, so I know it's there in the media. How do I get VLC to extract/display these subtitles? I'm only seeing CC1-4 in the GUI.

Is this a feature request, or something that would be expected to work?
Do I need to ping the libav* groups about this?

Thanks,
-dca

Can you share some sample?

I'm not sure. I have a DVD which I know has the T1 data, but haven't been able to confirm for copied/transcoded video, i.e. bits on disk. Separately, I'm not sure I am allowed to share it out.

If I was able to deliver a sample that I was confident had the T1 subtitle track, what would you want to do with it? That is, is there something I can do here to shed more light on the situation?

What happen if you select the first CC1 track?

There's nothing on the CC1 track, only the T1 track.
