how can i invoke vlc on a remote machine in LINUX?

anyone please help me out!!

You could either use a ssh-connection to the server and launch/control VLC within this connection or launch it on the server first and control it remotely with the RC-interface afterwards. You could also use the RC-interface in the first scenario after having launched VLC.
Please search the web for ssh-connections (it's general thing you can always use to remote control servers with a command-line) and our play-howto/streaming-howto for more information about the RC-interface. BTW. The ncurses-interface might be interesting for you as well: it's a GUI-like interface you can use within the ssh-connection (or locally of course).
