Intermittent video

Postby peterbj7 » 09 Jun 2010 08:23

I use VLC to view both DVDs and ISO-DVD files. Although most play properly I find with some the video "freezes" although the sound continues. This occurs with both DVDs and ISO files, though only with a few. Recently as a one-off I had a video (from DVD) that had a "pre-echo with the sound - the picture played correctly (other than the occasional freezing referred to above) and the sound played correctly when it should in accordance with the picture, but the same sound was also played 5 or 6 seconds earlier, rather softer, so I had a most distracting double out-of-synch-soundtrack.

Every video that freezes with VLC plays properly with other viewing software I have. I am using a one year old Toshiba with Vista, with the latest version of VLC.

Has anyone else experienced either of these problems? Any solutions?

Does Tools -> Messages... (set Verbosity to 2) complain something when freezing occurs?
