video file length is displayed entirely wrong

Postby Nameless » 02 May 2010 22:10

Hi

I've experienced a problem with VLC 1.0.6 on Linux:
The length of a specific Ogg Theora video file (Patent_Absurdity_HD_3540kbit.ogv) is displayed entirely wrong with 21 hours, 22 minutes and 55 seconds. The correct length of the video is 28 minutes and 58 seconds. What's going wrong with VLC?

Regards,
Nameless

I was just wondering this very thing myself, after watching the same video. Is there a particular reason for this? Being a complete lay person to the technicalities of all of this, I just assumed that a more open standard would help to gain better support. Especially in VLC which seems to support everything under the sun (much appreciated by the way). Thanks in advance.
