double clicking a media fille in a junction will crash vlc

Postby mikeloeven » 07 May 2010 02:13

i found this glitch by accident when messing around in one of my vm's i wanted to see if an xp machine could run with the documents and settings folder moved to another drive and connected at a ntfs junction. well after i did this i noticed that everything i clicked on a media file that i navigated to from my desktop vlc would instantly crash. when i opened my computer and manually went to the path of the file vlc worked normally. apearantly there is somthing in the program that gets confused when opening a file inside of a junction. or opening a file where the path is routed through a junction

correction to this post this bug only happenes when the junction points back to a folder located in the same directory structure. a junction point to a external drive works normally but not when the junction points to another location on C:
