64bit VLC?

Postby julics » 04 May 2010 00:13

Forgive my ignorance but is version 1.0.2 the last 64 bit build of VLC that is Mac OSX 10.5.x and 10.6.x compatible?
Also, is there a new 64 bit version for OSX 10.6.x in the works?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry, I'm new to all of this so can anyone tell me where I can download the Mac Intel 64-bit version for Snow Leopard v10.6.3 ? I want to use with HandBrake to rip commercial DVD's to my iPhone. Is there a special place, the Download pages say just to use the 32-bit version and that does not work ? Can someone send me the link ?

Thanks.

j-b / krmathis, under the directory http://download.videolan.org/pub/videol ... e3/macosx/ there are 2 downloads that interest me, vlc-1.1.0-pre3-intel64.dmg and vlc-plugin-1.1.0-pre3-intel.dmg. My primary purpose is for handbreak, however, I am finding out that VLC has many other purposes and uses. Questions:
1. Are both of these files pre-release, beta?
2. Which would work better for handbreak, or will either work?
3. If these are beta / pre-release, when (approx.) will the final versions be released?

Thank you,
J.

Pre-release 1.1.0-pre3 have others bugs:

• No loading auto subtitle;
• Not loading playlist history and media library
• timeline freeze;
• Offer update to 2.0, but download and show error message.

Thanks for developers

2.0 was just displayed for debug purposes as clearly visible from the release notes. However, this is set to existing releases now. Anyway, due to a bug in the pre1 and pre3 packages, upgrading will always fail, so you'll need to upgrade manually for a last time to download 1.1.0-RC, which will be released tomorrow.
The timeline freeze is fixed now, no idea about the other mentioned issues which sound like core problems to me instead of specific Mac problems.
