Saving a stream gets aborted

Postby calande » 16 Apr 2010 22:33

Hello,

I'm trying to use VLC as a VCR and I have yet another problem. Not only I don't have audio, but the recording of the stream gets aborted before the end of the TV program. It happens both with IPTV and with DVB-T channels. For instance I set VLC to record a stream for 2h (7200 seconds), so it starts saving an MPEG file and suddenly after a few minutes, it stops streaming :?
I have tried a number of times, and it always aborts before the end of the program. It's so frustrating, do you know how to solve this problem?
Thanks,

I believe the stb's repeatably sends a signal or actually answers a request from the servers to avoid a time out. I.e if a stream is not in use the server will shut it down eventually. only stb or tuner can do this for you. This means that when you are recording, the same channel must be running on the stb or tuner. Could this be the problem perhaps?

There is however some software used for test purposes by professional that will completely act as a stb -bci.eu.com "BCI iptv Stb emulator".
This software would take care of the channels change commands and the timeout request and so on. As far as I have been able to uncover, vlc can not do this for you as of now....It can only listen in to the stream that is already existing and kept alive by the stb/dtv-tuner iassume...
