using x11 video output - weird colors in video output

Postby chiacow » 28 Apr 2010 18:18

Running vlc locally is not an option for me so I'm using running vlc-1.0.5 with -V x11 and --x11-display options to export the video output window to an X server running on another machine. When I set --x11-display to a Solaris X server it works fine (colors are normal), but when I set --x11-display to a Windows X server the colors in the video output window have a yellow tint to them.

Someone in another thread kindly mentioned that there are issues with shared memory and vlc on buggy X servers so I tried using --no-x11-shm as an option. No effect.

I'm kinda stumped at this point. Any ideas?

SOLVED. This issue occers when exporting a vlc display to an Xserver that has image format set to LSB from a client that is MSB or vice versa. Changing the image format setting in the X server fixes the problem.
