Display hangs for aprox 1 minute. (Windows 7. GTX 295)

Postby lobley » 24 Apr 2010 00:08

Hi.

For every video I play, about 10 or 15 seconds in the display will 'pause' and the audio will carry on. By display I mean everything. Not just VLC. I can't move windows, can't make the start menu come up, and so on. I can tell the computer is still active because if I press space (pause) the audio stops. Pressing space again resumes.

It's as if VLC has hijacked my display for about one minute. After a minute all the things I tried to do (move windows, open the start menu etc.) all become visible and things are ok. (When I say that. I know that the window moves and start menu activation probably happened right when I did them, but the screen doesn't show this because it has hung)

Any ideas? I am fairly sure it's only VLC that does it. I don't have K-lite or any special codec pack installed. I know vlc is a standalone player.

Hm.. Apologies. It seems like there are several threads on this.

A friend has suggested changing a cache value from 300 to 800. I'll see if this has worked later on.

VLC cannot hijack Windows controls. Does it happen with audio only files?
