Play video in console (FreeBSD)

Postby simon272 » 22 Apr 2010 17:55

Hi!
I have computer with FreeBSD 8.0 with CLI interface only (there is no X system installed). Also my video card have composite out which automatically duplicate image I have on monitor (looks like "clone mode" but no driver needed), composite out connected to the TV.

Q: Is there some way to play RTP stream in full screen with resolution 720x576 in console using VLC without X system ? ... with sound of course.

Any suggestions will be appreciated !
Kind regards, simon272.

j-b thank you for reply. I have seen video in ASCII, but I need realistic output. At this moment I'm trying to compile kernel with FB....

... As I told earlier - VLC is the best solution for video encoding/transport/playback.

Thank you guys !
