Not playing media off external HD

Postby serosis » 24 Mar 2010 12:13

I find it funny that the inbuilt media player for 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) can play files off of my externally mounted HFS+ drive but VLC straight refuses to.
Loads it up into the playlist but outright refuses to play it, but will play files off my internally mounted NTFS drive.

I've already set the permissions to read & write for my user and that seemed to fix it for the inbuilt player but VLC still is adamant about not letting me view these files.

Anyways, I'm gonna keep going at it to see if I can get it to go.

it's a bug in the HFS driver in the linux kernel

Note that the file access module is implemented differently in 1.1.0 and that should work around the bug

Thanks for the advice, got 1.1.0 GIT and it works perfectly.
