capture (audio) stops by itself

Hi,

I've been using VLC to capture an mms audio stream for about a year. The last few times I have set it, the capture stops after some arbitrary amount of time. Nobody touches it, there aren't any problems with the stream, the internet connection doesn't drop, all the settings are the same as they always were. I was using an older version so I updated to the most recent one, and it still cuts the capture of its own accord. What it does record is fine.

I'm not particularly technical so I am lost as to what could be causing this.

using windows xp sp2, not dead certain on specific settings (I was using a 0.8 build before and the interfaces are different, still getting used to it) but as I said - there's never a problem with what has been recorded. I share a computer so can't always listen to things at the times they're on and I can't find any alternate programs to use so I would be exceptionally grateful for any ideas.
