Dvd shows the legis chitchat all of the time at start.

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

Dvd shows the legis chitchat all of the time at start.

Postby Kennin » 09 Mar 2010 03:07

When I insert a dvd to play it with VLC, since the day before yesterday it starts at the complete end.
That's the part where all the juridical blabla is shown per country.
I try to get to the main menu, but whatever I do, it doesn't help. I really tried every single navigation button I could find (which of course does not mean that I didn't miss a very secret hidden one, but I doubt). To no avail.
Oddly enough, this only occurs when trying to watch any F·R·I·E·N·D·S dvd. But then ANY, for real. This is the fourth I am trying now. It didn't do that before though. And I tried those who worked decently before, they do this too, now!

My version of VLC: 1.0.5 Goldeneye on an English WinXP corp edition with the latest service pack.
I doubt it's version related, though. I think some setting has been pooched somehow.

Any ideas, please?
Thanks a tremendous lot!

PS. It doesn't play the entire episode either. It stops about one minute from the end, or so, jumping right back to the law-babble.

Come to think of it... the point that this only happens with F·R·I·E·N·D·S dvd's must mean that:

1: the player think it's always the same dvd.
2: the "F·R·I·E·N·D·S dvd" settings have been pooched. The settings must be like "oh, a F·R·I·E·N·D·S dvd, we left off... right HERE at the very end!", and play from that point on.

It would explain how it's impossible to navigate to the menu, because the dvd itself has that enabled, I bet.
I just need to know how to "delete the cookies" for F·R·I·E·N·D·S dvd's now.

VLC itself does not keep any data related to played DVDs, except for the recently opened item list, which is irrelevant.
DVDCSS caches the decryption keys in the user home directory, e.g. $HOME/.dvdcss/ on Linux.
